The foundation is cast in concrete.
But first, you have to dig a large hole in the ground.
An iron lattice is laid out to keep the concrete in place.
A copper wire with no insulation is put around the foundation.
This is the lighting conductor.
Should the wind turbine be struck by lightning, the electricity will be conducted through wires down the tower and out into the ground.
In this way the wind turbine is not damaged by lightning.
The bottom section of the tower is cast into the concrete.
Now they are ready to put the rest of the tower on top.

The concrete arrives in a truck. It is piped to the hole through a long hose. The three men are making sure that the concrete is laid out right. One is holding the hose. The other has a vibrator that vibrates the concrete together. The third man is busy smoothing the surface.
Concrete is made from gravel, sand, cement, and water.
